Chris Kläfford was born on April 10, 1989 in Ramsberg, Lindesberg, Västmanland, Sweden. "Kläfford" has run in the Sjögren family as an extra male Christian name since Christoffer's grandfather's days. After a talk with his mother, Christoffer also added "Kläfford" to his full name. So, with his first name shortened to Chris, he became the artist Chris Kläfford. This name change came after competing under his birth name Christoffer Sjögren in the Swedish Idol series in 2010, 2011 and 2015, But, in 2017, Chris Kläfford finally became the winner of Swedish Idol.
